Daily Creativity

For the month of January 2014, I have decided to participate in a friend's Fun-A-Day project, where members in the community create something each day in January.  I have vowed to either create a pair of earrings, take nature pictures, dance, or write each day this month.  This is where I am posting my progress.

Day 31 - Fun-A-Day Finale:
For this Fun-A-Day Finale, I wanted to remember all my creations from this month in a collage and calendar form.  I truly believe this challenge has changed me for the better--down to my neural pathways and is helping me choose creativity whenever possible to bring me joy.  I plan to continue posting a little something everyday in February as well, but with a different theme.  Stay tuned.  It is a bittersweet finale to an amazing experience, one I will always cherish and hope to repeat next January. A special thanks and shout-out to my good friend, Angie, who invited me to be a part of her town's Fun-A-Day project. I am honored to be a part of your creative community.  <3 nbsp="" p="">

Day 30:
Today I'm celebrating my hometown's team, the Seattle Seahawks because they're going to the Super Bowl on Sunday for the 2nd time in history!  And the whole region is really excited for the team!  So my Fun-A-Day #30 is festive nail art. :) Go Seahawks!

Day 29:
My Fun-A-Day today was working on a presentation I'm giving this Friday at a student leadership conference on identifying strengths to be an even better leader. :) But I also wanted to remember how important the intentions I've set out to accomplish this year have been for me up until this point and so I handwrote this over a photo I took of the fog, using a cool app on my computer.

I believe intending to take at least one small step everyday towards your goals and dreams is truly the best way to accomplish what you're seeking. I am thankful for the Fun-A-Day challenge and how it has jumpstarted my intention practice in 2014!  :)

Day 28:
Today is my weekly wellness blog day so for my Fun-A-Day, I wrote a piece on softening to pain, inspired by real-life events last weekend.

Day 27:
This evening I was listening to the book CD my mom gave me for Christmas by Brene Brown called The Gifts of Imperfection and a phrase she said really moved me.  Lean into joy.  I really like this so I created a poster today for Fun-A-Day to remind myself of this everyday.

Day 26:
This is the last week of Fun-A-Day 2014! Can't believe it! I want to really enjoy this last week and use it as a launching pad for more creative projects in the coming months.  I am appreciative of even the smallest projects I've completed this month because they have opened up the channels of creativity in me and I feel proud of myself for sticking to my promise for this month.  So today for Fun-A-Day I celebrate the promise of positive changes, sticking to what I set out to do, discovering joy in the little things, and recognizing the increasing signs of spring.

It is by studying little things that we attain the great art of having as much happiness as possible.

Day 25:
A poem to celebrate life for Fun-A-Day #25:

Today I celebrate life
Grateful for remembering
To breathe
To laugh
To enjoy
To soften
To share
To trust
To love

Day 24:
Wow! 24 days of constant creativity! I'm really liking this. :) Today I took another photograph because nature was so beautiful this afternoon at sunset but I added a handwritten note to it with my new SketchBookExpress app on the MacBook.

Day 23:
Today I enjoyed healing acupuncture, an inspiring teleconference with the great Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy (SARK) & Dr. Christiane Northrup and then witnessed an amazing sunset. I am thankful for being able to be out in the world again today. :)

Day 22:
Today I was home sick with an upset stomach all day and unfortunately had to miss a class I signed up for on mind-mapping your intentions for 2014, so I decided to create a simple mind map on my computer for my Fun-a-Day project today.

Day 21:
Today I created a "blollage" which is a word I made up combing blog and collage.  And my weekly wellness blog post is titled: Little Things Matter.

Day 20:
Today was a beautiful winter day in Seattle and I had the privilege to go for a wonderful walk in our neighborhood with my new camera.  This is my favorite shot of the day:

Day 19:
My hometown is in joyous celebration today because the Seattle Seahawks are going to the Super Bowl for the 2nd time in history!  There has been a lot of Fun to be had today.  :)  In the spirit of having faith and believing in miracles, I decided to create an Intention flashcard today to remind myself of one of my focuses in 2014.

Day 18:
Today I had a lot of fun so I decided to write a little Saturday poem about my Fun-A-Day and share a picture of the beautiful moon I captured just now.

Sleeping in
Homemade breakfast
Nuevos lentes
Sunshine walks
Fresh stir fry
Couples' massage
Movie with friends
Moonlight night

Day 17:
This morning and into the afternoon there was a thick, thick fog surrounding my workplace, and then the sun came out.  I captured it with my iPhone:

Day 16:
Tonight I decided to photograph one of my favorite yoga poses, Child's Pose in front of the happy light and with a special kitty cat audience.  :-)

Day 15:
I have to admit that I'm exhausted today but I did do some sun salutations in the morning and some photography in the afternoon, so I had a little fun today. :) I'm sharing my photos of our first sunbreak in awhile:

Day 14:
Today my Fun-A-Day is dedicated to my weekly wellness blog and finding JOY.

Day 13:
My first Fun-A-Day creating jewelry! My hope is to learn how to make necklaces this year but for now, I never seem to tire from making more earrings. :)

Day 12:
Today we went for a walk to the beautiful Juanita Bay and I took some nature photography for Fun-A-Day #12:

Day 11:
For Fun-A-Day #11, a picture taken of a little silver lining during the past few days of dreary, stormy weather in the Pacific Northwest, this entry being typed by candlelight as our power has been out for the past 7 hours.

And an artistic, shadowy shot with the power outage as inspiration!

Day 10:
Today a pledge to my own Happiness Project in the form of a little poem:

My happiness project is to have fun-a-day
Meditate and pray by morning
Dance and walk and write by day
Show gratitude by night
And don't forget to floss! :-)

Day 9:
For my rather quick yet still fun, creative project today, I took a rain-inspired artistic photo with my iPhone while on a walk at lunch.

Day 8:
Today for Fun-A-Day I was inspired to create a tree of affirmations that I call my Tree of Life.  I saw a similar idea on the Mind Map Inspiration site, based on a book by Susan Jeffers called Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway.  Here's what I came up with:

Day 7:
My first Fun-A-Day week is complete with a blog post and Fun-A-Day collage of the different creative projects I've done since 2014 began. This has been such a rewarding challenge!

Day 6:
I took this picture yesterday while in traffic near Lake Forest Park, WA and then today decided to turn it into an affirmation image with a quote I found about praying.  I enjoy combining my nature photography with inspiring quotes!

Day 5:
Today I created a strengths collage as a visual to help remember and embody my natural talents and dependable strengths everyday.

Day 4:
An amazing winter sunset was my inspiration for the Fun-A-Day today in beautiful Edmonds, Washington.

Day 3:
Today I took a few pictures of food art--the first of my crock pot chicken creation from yesterday and the second of a yummy tuna salad I had for dinner.

Day 2:
Today I created a chicken dish for our crockpot to cook while we were working and my husband reports that it turned out deliciously! :) I also wrote a short Gratitude Poem that I will post below. I love poetry but I haven't written many poems before, so here goes!  Time for fun and trying new things, right?

Today I am grateful
Grateful for sun salutations
For reconnecting with dear friends
I am grateful for walks in the rain
For late night inspirations
For sleeping in
I am grateful for old reruns
For lazy evenings
For sleepy kisses
For this gratitude poem.

Day 1:
Today I began the fresh, new year dancing with my husband after midnight and dancing zumba-like moves with my little 4-year-old friend, Gisselle.  Then after getting some much needed rest, I went for a quiet, relaxing walk in our neighborhood and shot some nature scenes with my new Canon s120 that my husband and mom gave me for Christmas.  So today's Fun-A-Day is dancing AND photography AND writing, I guess, huh?  Here are the pictures I took from earlier today in the Juanita neighborhood of Kirkland, Washington, USA:
