Grateful Gifts

For the month of November, as I also did 4 years ago on Facebook, I want to recognize gratitude and gifts in theme with this magnificent season of harvest and giving thanks. I have also received several unexpected gifts recently and I think that crisp, cozy fall days in nature are gifts in and of themselves. My belief is that there is always at least one thing we can be grateful for each day.

Day 30:
I'm thankful for this month of gratitude and actually year of grateful journaling.

Day 29:
I'm thankful for my mom's neighbor who cares about my mom's cats so much.

I'm thankful for sleeping in, for sweet movies, for Thanksgiving planning, for reaching out.

Day 23:
Grateful for unpacking my books and hanging our paintings in our new home.

Grateful for a day with my mom.

I'm thankful for the Family Medical Leave Act. For the gift of being able to give back to my mom who has given me the world and life. For baby steps. For friendships. For patience. For love.

Day 16:
I'm thankful for teamwork, unconditional support, and having a bigger apartment.

Day 15:
I'm grateful for my family--both immediate, extended and chosen, and for all their love.

Day 14:
I'm thankful for caring hospital staff taking care of my mom, for sunset views from the hospital, for chicken soup that my mom was able to eat, and for being able to visit my cats and my mom's cats.

Day 13:
I'm thankful for the support of friends and family, for my courageous mom who is recovering in the hospital today, for my incredibly loving and thoughtful husband, for a walk around the hospital in the fresh air, and for the beautiful little hospital chapel and its prayer book.

Day 12:
The perfect quote that inspires reflection on gratitude and gifts, from the wonderful site entitled gratefulness.org that sends me amazing quotes everyday:

As life becomes harder and more threatening, it also becomes richer, because the fewer expectations we have, the more the good things of life become unexpected gifts that we accept with gratitude. ~Etty Hillesum, An Interrupted Life
